The headquarters of MechoSystems, which employs over 500 people worldwide, is located in Long Island City, N.Y., with manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and the U.K. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Master Electrician to join our Maintenance Team  at our Manufacturing Facility in Edison, NJ.  This role is on our second shift with a standard work schedule of M-F 230pm-11pm.  Overtime is often required which extends to shift to 1am.  Saturday Overtime is also often required.

     

     

    Job Purpose: Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, fixtures and electrical control systems. Ensure work is performed in accordance with relevant codes.

     

     

    Job Duties:

    �Complete necessary paperwork to close out work orders.

    �Troubleshoot and diagnose problem through direct evaluation and information obtained from other sources.

    �Determine if safety issue exists; if so, follow lock out/tag out procedures.

    �Assess need for replacement part(s) and if so obtain spare part through stock, use of equipment manual or Internet.

    �Evaluate need to have additional spare parts in stock.

    �Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures using hand and power tools.

    �Perform assigned Preventative maintenance work orders.

    �Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

    �Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustments or repair and insure compliance with all applicable codes.

    �Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.

    �Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures based on job specifications and State and Local codes.

    �Must be able to install and troubleshoot VFD's and PLC's

    �Must be able to determine material list, order material and install electrical distribution equipment per plans provided.

    �Must be proficient in installation of 120, 208, 240 and 480 volt single and 3 phase circuits.

    �Must be proficient in reading and developing electrical prints and schematics as required.

    �Must have experience and ability to troubleshoot electrical controls, processors for manufacturing equipment.

    �Continue technical training and keep current with State, Local and NEC code changes.

    �Provide engineering support

    �Train and mentor Maintenance/Toolroom Tech II & Maintenance/Toolroom Tech I associate's.

    �Perform other related work, as needed.

    �Lead projects around relocation of equipment.

    �Move equipment - internal and external. Equipment may be moved as a whole or disassembled, moved and reassembled.

    �May complete shipping paperwork.

    �Coordinate transportation for move with outside contractors (power, air, etc.).

    �Meet with engineer to discuss electrical specifications. Lead projects around electrical installations.

    �Serve as liaison with engineering on special projects.

    �Design additional safety and ergonomic enhancements Maintain work environment.

    �Attend regular stretching, daily huddle, Quality at the Source (Q@S), and safety meetings.

    �Maintain work environment in a need and orderly manner.

    �Follow approved safety procedures.

    �Report unsafe work conditions to supervisor.

    �Perform other related work, as needed.

    Requirements

    Education and Experience:

    �Associates Degree from Technical school or equivalent

    �Minimum - 5-7 years experience as a Journeyman Electrician and must possess State of New Jersey Master Electrician license.

    �Experience in an industrial setting a plus.

     

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    �Good oral and written communication skills. �Work in an organized, clean and safe manner. �Ability to read a print. �Ability to use basic hand and power shop tools

    �Using project plan and project schedule methodology �Clearly defining and utilizing processes in daily work �Understanding Mecho team structure, roles and responsibilities �Looking for innovative ways to streamline work processes across the division and involves stakeholders �Identifying gaps using tools such as Baldridge criteria, WI Forward Award criteria, GPTW, IDP etc �Using department and company metrics
